Ordering a new Log book

Log book of a vehicle is a very important document confirming that you are a rightful owner of a given car. You need to apply for a new Log book to be issued if the original got lost, stolen, damaged or if you haven't received a log book of your newly acquired car yet.
 

Apply by phone

If you are a registered owner of a vehicle and your name and address are in an original Log book which has been lost, you can apply for issuing a new one by phone.
In order to apply for a new Log book call DVLA at 0300 790 6802. Their lines are open Monday to Friday from 8 am till 7pm and Saturdays from 8 am till 2 pm.

Remember that you will not be able to apply for a new log book if your first name, surname, address or car details changed. If this is the case, you must apply by post.
The cost of a new log book is £25. You can pay it by phone with a debit or credit cards. A new Log book should be with you within 5 days.
 

Apply by post

In order to apply for the new log book by post download the form here. Send the filled out form along with a cheque or postal order for the amount of £25 paid to ''DVLA, Swansea'' to the following address: DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DD.
You will receive your new Log book within 6 weeks.
 

What happens if you haven't received Log book of your newly acquired car

If you don't receive a Log book at the time of purchase of your new car, please download an application form for a new Log book here. Fill in the form and send it along with a green section slip received at the time of purchase and holding new keeper's details . In this situation you don't need to pay for the issue of a new Log book.

However, if you don't have a green slip with details of a new keeper you must pay £25 for issuing a new Log book.
A completed form along with a cheque or postal order paid to „DVLA, Swansea" should be sent to the following address: DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DD.

You should receive your new Log book within 6 weeks.
 

What happens if your new Log book doesn't arrive by post

You need to call DVLA if you don't receive your new Log book after

- 5 days when application was made by phone
- 6 weeks when you applied by post
